SLIPKNOT Will Not Headline Either Knotfest Dates This Year, According to Corey Taylor

Not-So-Knotfest? Notfest? Notknotfest?

Not-So-Knotfest? Notfest? Notknotfest?

Since its inception in 2012, Slipknot has headlined every single Knotfest to date. Which makes sense, given it's the band's own namesake of a festival.

Though that'll all change in 2017, as Corey Taylor explains to Billboard that Slipknot shouldn't headline either Knotfest date this year because "if it has to live and breathe on your presence, then it's not a festival."

"I think in a lot of ways your festival has to live past you, or it's not gonna live at all," Taylor explains. "If it has to live and breathe on your presence, then it's not a festival, and it's not for anybody else but you. And for us, it's always been more about the art and the music and everybody… That's why we put so much work into it to begin with, is to really make sure that it was stable and it was strong and the foundation was there."

Taylor confirms Stone Sour will be playing the festival dates. It'll be interesting to see both where Stone Sour falls in the lineup, and who will headline both festivals.

Knotfest Mexico will be held at Foro Pegaso in Toluca, Mexico on October 28, and Ozzfest Meets Knotfest has not been announced yet.
