"It's about the choices one would make if given the opportunity to live in a place that keeps you immortal."

System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan is having a pretty solid 2020. He just launched his new cover band These Grey Men, so far featuring System's own vocalist Serj Tankian and Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows, and will be playing some shows with System of a Down later in the year.

Dolmayan is also working on his new comic book Ascencia. Dolmayan told The Pulse of Radio that the comic is a "sci-fi epic" to be published in monthly installments.

"It's about the choices one would make if given the opportunity to live in a place that keeps you immortal. Like, who would you betray? Who would you screw over? It would test your moral fiber and it tests who you are as a person, make you question everything about yourself. It's a sci-fi epic that I'm putting out as a monthly series. I'm self-publishing it, so I'm very proud of it."

Dolmayan also recently opened up about the lack of a new System of a Down record. He said "there’s too much drama from the past that people can’t get past" and "I don’t have a good answer for you because I don’t agree with not doing an album."

"Some of us are closer than others [to doing a new album], I think. Not all of us get along very well, but I say we all get along good enough. It’s kind of like having brothers, man. You have three brothers, you’re not going to like all of them the same. They’re not all going to like you the same. Each of us has our favorites, but at the end of the day, you’re brothers nonetheless. But I want to kill some of the guys in the band sometimes."
