Tau Cross, the band featuring Amebix bassist and vocalist Rob Miller and Voivod drummer Michel Langevin, were slated to release their new album Messengers Of Deception on August 9. The record would be their third overall and third released via Relapse Records. Now, for reasons unknown to us all, Tau Cross have severed ties with Relapse Records and are looking into other ways to release Messengers Of Deception.
Here's what the band had to say.
We regret to say that Tau Cross and Relapse records are now parting company after several successful and fruitful years together. Circumstances have arisen that must put an end to our relationship. We would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to all the staff and crew at Relapse for their work over these past few years and our apologies to supporters who have already bought the new record.
We shall be looking into other avenues to release the album ‘Messengers of deception’ and will keep people updated about that development.
All pre-orders for Messengers Of Deception are now absent from Relapse, as is their back catalog. Relapse has not yet commented on what happened with Tau Cross.
Update: Relapse has issued a comment to us about the matter, and it basically came down to a disagreement because vocalist Rob Miller thanking Gerard Menuhin in the album's liner notes, who Jaffe adds German magazine Ox pointed out is "a far right conspiracy theorist, focused specifically on Holocaust denial."
