Tony Iommi Says BLACK SABBATH Won't Record A Farewell Album Because GEEZER Doesn't Want To

Though maybe we'll get an Iommi record...

Black Sabbath is closing the book once and for all on its legendary career with one final tour and a studio album titled 13 released in 2013. Ozzy had recently talked about the band not trying to follow up 13 with something else as a farewell and now guitarist Tony Iommi is weighing in on the band making 13 its final studio effort in an interview with Q.

“I’ve got so many riffs. I wrote a whole load of stuff for another album and we met up in L.A. but the others… well, Geezer didn’t particularly want to do another album. Then again, after you’ve just had a No. 1 album, where do you go from there? For the last LP, we did record 16 songs, so we may still put something out from that. We don’t know yet. Do I intend to stop playing? No. It’s the touring, really [that is difficult]. I’d love to do something with the guys. But, whatever happens, I will do something.”

If some people aren't quite on board with the album, then there's hardly a point in doing one, right? Plus like Iommi says, we might get all the b-sides at some point anyway and even the stuff that could've been the final album, just with the latter definitely being under a different name.

So we'll see. Regardless, I think we've got more than enough Black Sabbath to listen to.
