Tom G. Warrior bailed on Celtic Frost in 2008, released Triptykon's debut record Eparistera Daimones in 2010 along with the Shatter EP, and then nothing… until now. Warrior announced Triptykon was all geared up to release their second full-length record in 2014!
Yes! Melana Chasmata will be out in April of 2014 on Century Media Records. Warrior had to say about the album on the band's website:
"We have been working on Melana Chasmata for some three years, in various shapes and forms. It's not an easy album by any means, and to me personally it reflects an extremely complex gestation period, musically, spiritually, and, due to certain circumstances in my life, emotionally. At the same time, the album unquestionably reflects the continuity I was longing for so much during Celtic Frost's period of self-destruction and demise. Hearing Triptykon creating such utter darkness again and exploring the potential of these new songs has been incredibly invigorating and inspiring."
Interesting, if not at least a little bit exciting! Triptykon are a killer band with a lot to offer and it'll be great to hear what they've been up to all this time. Fingers crossed!
