If there is one possible bright side of touring being canceled for a year, it's that it allowed many acts to get creative and start writing new material. Some artists have been more prolific than others, and one of those artists are German industrial masters Rammstein. The band have seemingly confirmed they are done with a new album.
We knew the band were working on new material last summer. Drummer Christoph Schneider revealed as much back in June. Speaking to the Rodeo Radio podcast, Schneider said "We still have so many ideas lying around, so many unfinished songs. We have met and we are working on new songs. We want to work on songs. But whether or not it will turn into an album, nobody knows yet."
After that, the band began sharing photos from renowned French recording studio La Fabrique in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France.
They also shared this video:
In a new interview with Motor.de, keyboardist Flake Lorenz indicates that the band completed a new album during those sessions:
“The fact that we couldn’t perform live increased our creativity. We had more time to think of new things and less distraction. As a result, we recorded a record that we hadn’t planned on.”
At the very least, Lorenz is saying a new album has been recorded and still might need some time to be mixed, mastered and sequenced, but it sure is exciting to think we might get another new Rammstein album in the next year or so.
Rammstein postponed their North American tour and are working on rescheduling it for 2021.
