Back in April, Lamb Of God announced it would go on a hiatus after its summer tour with Slayer and Behemoth. Recently, guitarist Mark Morton said the hiatus isn't permanent, and even hinted at writing new material while there was some downtime.
Now in an interview with 102.9 The Hog, guitarist Willie Adler didn't even hint at new material – he just outright says he's been writing a bunch of new stuff lately.
"I'm sure that we'll all kind of scatter like cockroaches, as typically we do once we get off a tour. We're living on top of each other for so long, we usually take a few months completely away from each other. But I haven't necessarily stopped writing new material, so I'll continue to do that in my little home studio. So we'll be plenty prepared when it actually is time to officially reconvene to start quote-unquote writing the record."
VII: Sturm Und Drang pretty much came out of nowhere in 2015, and given the band's seemingly restless nature, I'd assume the new album will probably follow a similar path. The only other thing we know is that it might have more clean vocals, which could be cool! Randall Blythe's voice really fit the music on the last one, and it'll be interesting to see how he incorporates that sound again.
