Nervana will be releasing new headphones in 2016 that essentially stimulate the nerves in your head with various audio signals, creating a similar high to smoking weed. Here's how the company explains the process.
"A central signal-processingĀ circuit receives both music and stimulation signals and routes those signals appropriately to the two earbuds…The proprietary left earbud, in comparison, not only receives the left channel of the music signal at its speaker, it also receives the stimulation signal within the earbud material itself, to deliver electrical stimulation to the inside surface of the ear canal and, thereby, the Vagus nerve."
It'll be interesting to see how this really pans out when the reviews start coming in as these noise cancelling ear buds hit the market (for $300 a pop), though the idea itself is pretty neat. I also love that the one guy talking about these headphones on Dose says he used them at his office… which seems like probably not the greatest idea of all time?
