I feel like it's been forever since Glenn Danzig said something insane. We created a section on the site for such lunacy and it hasn't been updated all year!
Previously, Danzig has said he would've played Wolverine less gay, he loves bricks and thinks he knows more than a doctor.
Today, in wacky Danzig news, he compared Democrats to fascists. How, you ask?
During a recent interview, he was asked if the PMRC, which is the Parents Music Resource Center, started by Tipper Gore to put censorship stickers on CD, was the subject behind the song "Mother," to which he responded:
Yeah, you know, Al Gore wanted to tell people what they could listen to and what they couldn’t, what they could record. It was basically coming down to the idea that he wouldn’t let anybody record any music that he didn’t think you should be doing. There was going to be an organization that would tell you what you could and couldn’t record. And certainly if you couldn’t record it, you couldn’t put it out. It was really fascist.
My view on Democrats is that they’re fascists disguised as liberals, or liberal moderates. You’re not allowed to say anything that they don’t agree with. You’re not allowed to do anything. Also, the whole Obama, “I can kill anybody with a drone with no trial,” is kind of disturbing. I’m surprised that more people who are supposedly liberal aren’t more disturbed by it. I think whatever Obama does is OK with them, because he’s Obama. It’s bullshit.
It’s the same thing with the PMRC telling you, “Bands can go on trial for their music.” What’s next, Wagner is going to get arrested? What? He’s dead. [Laughs]
Way to make a leap, Glenn. As Axl Rosenberg points out on MetalSucks, two members of the PMRC were actually Republican. Also, the PMRC never sought to tell people what they could and couldn't record, they sought a ratings system, which they got in the form of those silly stickers.
Has Danzig ever lived in a fascist state? The answer is no. Because if we were in a fascist state, the statements he made above would result in his immediate death. But last I checked, Danzig is still alive and there is still a fascist Democrat in the White House.
