Photographer Rodrigo Fredes captured some amazing photos all year long in our photo gallery and we asked him to pick his 10 favorite shots of the year. Here's what he had to say.
"2017 was amazing in terms of shows and photos, so many great concerts! I can’t wait to see what 2018 has to offer!"
Mille Petroza raising the flag of hate at The Decibel Magazine Tour 2017 with Obituary, Midnight & Horrendous. Apr. 14 at Irving Plaza in NYC.
The Beautiful Anne Invernizzi (Delain) revving up the crowd with some nice lighting behind her.
This photo of Mastodon is maybe my favorite photo of this year, taken with a 16mm lens. I was able to capture the whole band in action with dramatic lights on Troy. Taken May 11 at the Manhattan Center in NYC.
Not the best angle for this shot, but it shows Rammstein’s powerful production. A lot of fire and pyro + Rammstein = Awesome! The show was completely sold out so it was hard for me to make my way to the center for a better shot. Taken on June 25 at Jones Beach, NY.
Nergal releasing incense all over the stage before performing “Messe Noire” on Jul. 27 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in NY. One of the most brutal tours of this year with Lamb of God and Slayer.
Another year and another Slayer photo in my top ten of the year. Here's Tom with perfect synchronized flames behind him. Shot on Jul. 27 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in NYC.
I saw this type of photo over and over in every live gallery Metallica shared on social media. During the middle of "Enter Sandman," there was a big explosion and massive red pyro! When I traveled from NY to LA to sboot the band, I made sure to get this shot! Metallica are one of my favorite bands! Taken on Jul. 29 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in LA.
Here is Rudolf Schenker of Scorpions on Sep.16 at Madison Square Garden in NYC. As a photographer, this was one of my favorite shoots this year, the lighting was amazing! Of course the band was too.
King Parrot are one of the most intense bands that I've seen live! They have so many great moments to capture! This is how they demonstrate their love to photographers.
Sometimes the crowd will give you great moments to capture too. In this case, here is a fan in corpse paint at a recent Mayhem show. Shot on Dec. 02 at Irving Plaza in NYC.
