Satanic Temple Petitions Public Schools To Include An After School Satanism Club

Public school just got way better.

Public school just got way better.

As someone who doesn't subscribe to any religion due to complete and total disinterest, the Satanic Temple has quickly risen to being my favorite. The organization got the Ten Commandments removed from the Oklahoma capitol building, fought and won for equal representation in a Floridian holiday display, and now the temple is back at it trying to incorporate itself into the American public school systems with an after school program called After School Satan.

According to the organization's website, it disagrees with Christianity creeping into the school system and wants to have equal representation… which is 100% logical and fair.

“It’s important that children be given an opportunity to realize that the evangelical materials now creeping into their schools are representative of but one religious opinion amongst many. While the Good News Clubs focus on indoctrination, instilling them with a fear of Hell and God’s wrath, After School Satan Clubs will focus on free inquiry and rationalism, the scientific basis for which we know what we know about the world around us. We prefer to give children an appreciation of the natural wonders surrounding them, not a fear of everlasting other-worldly horrors.”

The chapters would be run by local Satanic temple members, and will include "a uniform syllabus that emphasizes a scientific, rationalist, non-superstitious world view."

Realistically, there's no way this can get shot down. It's a voluntary after school program that operates just like any other religion would. Not to mention this legally can't be shot down, given denying the program is discrimination.
