Shocking Revelations

Did AVENGED SEVENFOLD Just Help DYING FETUS Get Booked On Download Festival?!

Here's one example of why the internet rules. Yesterday, Download Festival announced the first headliners for the 2014 iteration of their mega-fest weekend. The main headliners were Avenged Sevenfold, Rob Zombie, Aerosmith and Linkin Park playing Hybrid Theory in full.

Not exactly the most 'extreme' of lineups, and the internet was pissed.

So pissed that Metal Hammer created a hilarious post of the 10 most butthurt fan responses to the lineup announcement. One fan in particular wanted some new blood to get a chance to shine and posted this in response to the lineup announcement:

Everyone is going on about that this is good to give new blood a chance, then why not Machine Head, Lamb of God, Testament, Dying Fetus or Carcass. Give them a chance.

Look, we love Dying Fetus here at Metal Injection as much as the next guy, but headliners of a 90,000 person festival they are not.

This spurred a hilarious hashtag #whynotdyingfetus with fans all over asking the important question, Why not Dying Fetus?!

The Download festival organizers heard the calls and Metal Hammer later confirmed that because of the internet trolling, Dying Fetus IS LEGITIMATELY NOW BOOKED ON DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL! They will not be headlining, of course, that's still going to be Avenged Sevenfold, but still a great example of the power of the internet! Had Download never announced A7X as the headliners, and had the internet not gone butthurt, and had that one fan not asked the important question "Why not Dying Fetus?!" the fine people at Donnington would probably never get to experience the majestic wonder that is "Kill Your Mother, Rape Your Dog."

Fetus founder John Gallagher had this to say about the momentous occasion:

“The people have spoken and now it’s time to piss in the mainstream! This started as a joke but has turned into something truly incredible! Never under estimate the power of the internet. Big thanks to all our undying fans for making this happen and for the promoters of Download for having the courage to invite us on the fest! Cheers!”

Congrats to Fetus! Download Fest 2014 happens June 13-15, with more bands being announced soon. Tickets on sale here.

We just added a sweet photo of Fetus from their recent Halloween show in New York City, check out the photos.
