Wes Scantlin has not had a good few years. The Puddle of Mudd frontman made headlines when his band walked out on him in April, and before that when neighbors called the bomb squad on him. Last year, he was also wanted for no-showing a court appearance. after being arrested on April 30 in Hermosa Beach, CA for an outstanding warrant. This happened just one month after his band walked out on him for erratic behavior and two months after cops showed up in SWAT gear to arrest him. He recently got arrested for trying to board a plane with a BB gun.
In October, Scantlin was sentenced to serve three years probation and pay over $40,000 in fees and restitution for the vandalism case, and then 20 days in jail for the BB Gun incident. Perhaps that was his rock bottom, because the band revealed that Wes has entered rehab.
In a post on the band's Facebook page, they wrote:
“Happy Holidays to all our fans!!!
“We hope you have a great Holiday and Happy New Year 2018.
“First show of the year is at the Whisky A Go-Go on January 26th. We are looking forward to rockin for you all and we will be touring all year.
“Wesley has been in rehab and is doing very well and looks forward to seeing you all.
“We love you guys and thank you for sticking by our sides.”
As somebody who has followed this story for the last few years, all I can say is I'm glad that Wes is finally getting the help he needs. Personally, I feel like maybe doing a show so quickly after rehab, especially with all the vices available around the Whiskey, but hopefully this is a wake up call for Wes.
