Puddle Of Mudd recently announced their first album in four years Ubiquitous with a questionable debut single that felt like a bad demo. Now Puddle Of Mudd is streaming their second Ubiquitous single and not only is it nothing like the first one production-wise, but it's not even sonically similar.
Puddle Of Mudd's new single "Cash & Cobain" feels like a blatant grab at modern country radio, and a flat one at that. Though Puddle Of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin seems happy with it, and it's his record. So hooray for that, I guess?
"I totally dig the song 'Cash & Cobain'," said Scantlin. "The song covers a lot of different genres, which I think is pretty cool. It was a collaboration with Colin Brittain. I'm still flabbergasted by how we managed to blend all these musical styles into a single track. It's like we took all these genres, mixed and matched until they meshed perfectly."
Ubiquitous is out now and yes, there are more attempts at country songs. Look no further than "Butterface" below for evidence of that, or just listen to Ubiquitous in full and get whiplash between the country songs and the Nirvana ripoffs. Woof.
