The toxicology reports in the death of Scott Weiland are in, and they show he died of an overdose. Weiland was found dead in his tour bus. Weiland's immediate cause of death was cardiac arrest. Friends' concerns that he was doing crack were proven possible when cocaine was found near his bed by police investigating the scene, and eventually we learned he also had Xanex, sleeping pills, and opiates in his room as well.
TMZ reports that The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has concluded that Weiland overdosed on cocaine and MDA (a form of ecstasy) and alcohol. The reports state that Weiland's "multi-substance dependence" was a factor and that he was suffering from heart disease and asthma.
It's certainly a tragic end to an icon of 90s music but Weiland clearly had his demons. As his ex-wife and mother of two children said, "don't glorify this tragedy."
