Founding Screaming Trees bassist Van Conner has passed away at 55 years old, according to his bandmate and brother Gary Lee Conner. Screaming Trees was active between 1984 and 2000 and is recognized as one of the pioneers of grunge. The band's lineup over the years included vocalist Mark Lanegan and guitarist Josh Homme.
"Let me put this letter on Van's grave," said Gary Lee Conner in his post. "Van Conner bassist and song writer of Screaming Trees died last night of an extended illness at 55. It was pneumonia that got him in the end. He was one of the closest friends I ever had and I loved him immensely. I will miss him forever and ever and ever…"
