As the news spread throughout the rock community, her friends and peers have posted touching tributes to the singer. One thing was certain – she was loved by many. Janus made no secret of her mental illness and her pain seemed to have gotten the best of her.

Goddammit. Had the joy of touring with @JillJanus on @MayhemFest a few years ago. SUCH a powerful voice matched with an equally beautiful personality. It always gets better, my friends. Always. #FuckDepression

RIP Jill Janus – I’m speechless, in shock and I’ve never, ever felt anything like this in my life. This is shattering me by the minute. This doesn’t seem real and I’m not looking forward to when it does. I can’t believe I’m writing this… pic.twitter.com/PMGGV230L0

I met Jill on the Mayhem tour, I had a summer cold and she could tell. She was very kind and gave me a mixture of herbs that helped. After tour she followed up to make sure I was ok. I wish I knew what she was going through, maybe I could have helped. https://t.co/QSsQmItsDY
