With a brand new Metallica album, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct scheduled to be released on November 18th, today, Metallica announced the first official tour dates in support of the new album.
The band posted this message announcing the dates:
It’s on!!! As we put the finishing touches on Hardwired…To Self-Destruct we’re also getting ready to hit the road for the first of many headlining shows around the world. To kick it all off we’re returning to five cities we know will absolutely rock hard with all kinds of crazy Metalli-love and get this tour started right! First up we travel to Latin America with stops in Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala and Costa Rica. All the dates and ticket information, including presales for the Fifth Members, is below. We can’t think of a better place to get the juices flowing and set the table for many more shows to come!

October 26: San Juan, Puerto Rico, Coliseo de Puerto Rico
October 29: Quito, Ecuador, Parque Bicentenario
November 1: Bogotá, Colombia, Hipódromo De Los Andes
November 3: Guatemala City, Guatemala, Estadio Cementos Progreso
November 5: San José, Costa Rica, Estadio Nacional

For the rest of the world, relax, this is just the beginning! Lars has already promised that the band will do extensive touring, pointing to the 180 shows for their last album and they plan to match that with this release:
"We're going to start pretty much full-on touring in January and are looking to figure out what we're doing in North America, but there will definitely be some pretty extensive touring in America."
Metallica released the "Hardwired" single a few weeks ago. Earlier this week, a fan recreated the riffs from the new single using the band's classic tones from the first four albums.
Metallica has performed "Hardwired" live only once so far, a few days after releasing the single, during their headlining performance at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN. Here are some photos from the gig we shot.
