In 2015, Immortal came to a somewhat expected end. The group hadn't put out a new album since 2009, though the split wasn't without its drama. Abbath, who had already embarked on a solo career, said he felt forced to quit the band. Immortal fired back by saying the split was entirely due to Abbath's personal problems, and they'd go on to record a new album anyway.
Now with the line up Demonaz on guitar and vocals and Horgh on drums, Immortal will hit Abyss Studio with Peter Tägtgren in January 2017. Tägtgren recorded everything from Immortal's 1999 album At The Heart Of Winter, all the way up to 2009's All Shall Fall. It looks like the album will be 8 tracks long, and is due out at some point in 2017.
So who's excited for the first Immortal album sans Abbath? What are the expectations?
