AMON AMARTH Posts 12 Seconds Of Super Heavy New Song

Less viking, more death metal.

Less viking, more death metal.

Amon Amarth is expected to announce their new album alongside a new single called "Raven's Flight" on March 20. The band is now teasing 12 seconds of that song, and it is extremely death metal. Seriously, that chugging riff under vocalist Johan Hegg's guttural vocals just kicks all types of ass.

On the new disc, Hegg recently said his process for writing lyrics was the total opposite of 2016's Jomsviking.

"With the last record, I wrote a complete fucking movie script and we turned it into an album. This time around, I didn't have any of those ideas but we also didn't want to do a concept thing, either. Jomsviking turned out so well, so if you then start working on another concept album and try to top that, it would almost be impossible — unless you have a really great story lined up that you can do that with. But I didn't, so it didn't make sense. I was a bit lazy on this one — I waited for the music to be done so I could see where it would take me."

Amon Amarth's new album was produced by Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Stone Sour, etc.) at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, CA.
