Death metal pioneers Cannibal Corpse recently celebrated their 25th anniversary as a band and show absolutely no sign of stopping! In fact, we can expect a new record sometime (probably later on) in 2014!
How amazing is it that the music we've all come to know and love is getting this old and rich in history? Amazing. Anyway, bassist for the group Alex Webster told BraveWords.com in an interview:
"We will see. I really shouldn't speak about it because we are talking about doing certain things but it might not end up happening. It isn't solid yet. I could give you a solid answer by like February, but right now I don't know. But what I can say, is that in February and March and then into early April we will be recording. We are going to go into Audio Hammer Studios (in Sanford, Florida) and have Mark Lewis (Trivium, Deicide, Six Feet Under) produce us. We really like a lot of stuff he's done. We did three great records (2006's Kill, 2009's Evisceration Plague and 2012's Torture) with my good friend Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal), he's one of the best. We felt like, 'man, we've done three awesome records with him, let's try doing something different.' Not because we are displeased with what he's done – he did a fantastic job – but we just felt like mixing it up. We've been working with Erik since 2005. We thought, 'that's a good eight years, let's give Mark a try for a little while and see how that goes. He's killer."
Switching it up might be amazing for the band! Not that their more recent works have been anything but awesome, it just seems like a change of scenery every now and then could really help change things up in a band's sound (generally in a good way). Plus it seems like Mark Lewis knows damn well how to make a band sound great, so full faith in that choice from one fan!
