I'd venture to say that Crowbar frontman Kirk Windstein has one of the most unique voices in metal, and now he's working on bringing it to an entirely new context.
Windstein recently told Jamey Jasta on his podcast that he's writing a "mellow, dark" solo album, but stresses that it's not an acoustic affair.
"…I'm doing a solo record, but we don't want everyone to have a preconceived notion as to what it's gonna be. It's not an acoustic record. It's mellow, dark music, basically is what it is."
Windstein adds that it's his "version of a mellow Crowbar basically," and that it's heavily influenced by The Beatles "and stuff like that." Let's be real with ourselves too for a second, and come to terms with the fact that Windstein has been bringing quality riffs and hooks to the rock and metal world since 1990.
I sincerely doubt this solo outing is going to be anything less than awesome.
