Dimmu Borgir originally said its long-awaited follow-up to 2010's Abrahdabra might drop at the end of summer or early fall this year. Considering both those time frames have passed and a new Dimmu Borgir album was not announced, it's safe to say nobody really knows when it'll be out. Now in a new interview with Metal Shock Finland, guitarist Silenoz says "now I think it's gonna be the first half of 2018, the way it looks now. We're really looking forward to have it out."
He also acknowledges that he originally said the album would be out in November 2017, but hey – shit happens.
"We feel that we're sitting on the best album that we could possibly do at this time, and personally, I think it's definitely our best album to date. Obviously, that's something that everybody says, but if I didn't believe that we would do our best album, there wouldn't really be any point doing a new one. So, yeah, I'm really excited about it, and I know that quite a few fans will probably be positively surprised. And, yeah, we can't wait to get this stuff off the ground and get going."
We've also heard that the new album will be more in the vein of Dimmu Borgir's earlier stuff. So it's all very, very exciting prospects for the new stuff! Now it's just a matter of, y'know… hearing it.
