Exodus has moved their long-awaited new album Persona Non Grata back from its original June release date to this November. The reason of course is because drummer Tom Hunting is currently undergoing chemotherapy for squamous cell carcinoma, and the band wants him to be able to be healthy for the release.
Exodus vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza said in a recent episode of his Zetro’s Toxic Vault podcast that Persona Non Grata is a "career-defining record" and that he has full faith Hunting will recover.
"It’s a career-defining record. You guys have not heard it yet, but it’s a career-defining album. And once you hear it, you will understand that. And it makes sense why we waited, so that he can BE part of this. ‘Cause nobody’s thinking he’s not — he’s gonna fully recover from this. And we’ll be out kicking your asses once again."
Later in the episode, Souza called Hunting the strongest guy he's ever met, and that he again – Hunting is gonna beat the shit out of cancer.
"Tom is one of the strongest guys I’ve ever met, if not THE strongest guy. He lives in the mountains, and his training regimen is straight up out of Rocky IV. I mean, he chops wood, and he really chops wood. I could chop about three fucking logs if I was lucky, and I’m done. He’ll sit there and chop for hours. He’s a very strong guy, and we all know that he’s gonna beat this."
A GoFundMe was recently launched to help Hunting with his medical bills. The GoFundMe so far has raised over $82,000 of its $80,000 requested, which of course has totally blown Hunting away.
