This week's new heavy metal releases include Croatian weirdos, Andorran progsters, Ghoul-ish Oaklanders, and more! To the metals…
ALSO! Today, Bandcamp is doing one of their days of giving 100% of what you pay directly to the labels and artists. So if you can get stuff from Bandcamp, please do.
Enterprise Earth – Death: An Anthology
Genre: Deathcore/groove metal
Origin: Spokane, Washington
Label: MNRK Heavy
Buy now on Bandcamp
On this record – of which I had to confirm numerous times wasn't a compilation – Enterprise Earth and bringing the heavy grooves with plenty of techy moments throughout. They're also brining pals along with them. You're getting some guest spots from Ben from Shadow of Intent, Darius from Spite, Matt from Trivium, and Wes from Alluvial.
Ghoul – Noxious Concoctions
Genre: Death metal/thrash
Origin: Oakland, California
Label: Tankcrimes
Buy now on Bandcamp
It's been eight years since Ghoul has dropped more than a new single, and the wait for some of their nasty, thrashy death metal is finally over. This is a five track EP with four originals and a Funerot cover. A wild ride, as usual.
KMFDM – Let Go
Genre: Industrial
Origin: Hamburg, Germany
Label: Metropolis
Buy now on Bandcamp
Feel like dancing while blaring some big driving guitars? KMFDM have you covered. This record feels like that dance scene from the second Matrix movie, but with more on an 80's-90's alternative angle.
meth. – Shame
Genre: Experimental/dissonant death metal
Origin: Chicago, Illinois
Label: Prosthetic
Buy now on Bandcamp
Wasn't dancing a little bit ago so fun? Well, the fun ends now with the latest from meth.. This is a noisy, angry record that makes me feel uneasy. The lyrical subject matter covers depression, addiction, and trauma too. So, yeah. Good times. Hear the whole thing here.
Necrowretch – Swords Of Dajjal
Genre: Blackened death metal
Origin: Valence, Rhône-Alpes, France
Label: Season Of Mist
Buy now on Bandcamp
Up next is an evil French blackened death metal record. In the four years since their last sinister offering, the band has swapped out their rhythm section. The new dudes know their ways around crushing your eardrums though. This is a dark and enjoyable listen for fans of headbanging a lot.
Persefone – Lingua Ignota: Part I
Genre: Progressive/melodic death metal
Origin: Andorra la Vella, Andorra
Label: Napalm
Buy now on Bandcamp
Last year Persefone dropped their vocalist and have employed new guy Daniel R. Flys and this EP is our introduction to him. While still full of progressive twists and melodic turns, this is a more intense Persefone than 2022's Metanoia. I'm already looking forward to every sequel that could come from this new chapter. Lauren's full review is right here.
Them Moose Rush – Zepaxia
Genre: Progressive rock
Origin: Bjelovar, Croatia
Label: Dostava Zvuka/Dirty Old Label
Buy now on Bandcamp
Wrapping this week with a band I will champion every time I can. Them Moose Rush are a band that are constantly shapeshifting from record to record, and often even within each record. Zepaxia sounds like Royal Blood, Portugal. The Man, Dead Poet Society, and others if they injested a smoothie of funk, weed, and prog.
