Label: Sumerian

While not my cup of tea over all, I've got to give some credit to these guys. They cross so many genre boundaries with this one song I've included and continue to do so throughout the entire record There are elements of djent, post-hardcore, metalcore, death metal, deathcore, electronic, and others I may not have noticed. Totally "Sumeriancore" but worth a shot with an open mind.

Grave Digger – Return of the Reaper
Genre: Power Metal
Origin: Gladbeck, Germany
Label: Napalm

Holy hell, this band is really thirty-four years old? I knew they were a long-running band, but I didn't realize they've been pumping their fists and shreding for that long. Their seventeenth album is what you'd expect from the band. This is nothing but gruff vocals, soaring choirs of men, and melodic power.

These guys are brilliant nerds of music. I love this record and did so before learning the the fact that the entire thing is a palindrome. That fact makes in infinity cooler. Hear the entire thing here, and live with the fact that they beat you to the punch with this great idea.
Novembers Doom – Bled White
Genre: Epic Doom
Origin: Chicago, Illinois
Label: The End

I love when a band tell's you exactly what you're going to hear with their name. Since 1989 Novembers Doom has been pumping out soaring doom in the vein of Insomnium and the likes. J. Andrew has a full review here, and you can stream it here.

Pelican – Arktika (Live From Russia)
Genre: Instrumental post metal
Origin: Des Plaines, Illinois
Label: Self
Awesome, memorable, heavy, and beautiful instrumental music is what you'd come to expect from this band. Their live sets are all that and more as they take away the bells and whistles of a studio and bring total humanity and emotion to their music. Stream the full set here.
Suicide Silence – You Can't Stop Me
Genre: Deathcore
Origin: Riverside, California
Label: Nuclear Blast

Expectations are rather large for this record as it the first to feature Eddie Hermida on vocals. Fans of the band will probably be excited to hear the band move forward. If you weren't a fan before, this one probably won't change your mind. If that's the case, I'd say just check out the songs that feature Corpsegrinder from Cannibal Corpse and Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan. It's interesting to hear these guys in very different elements. Hear the whole record in the included YouTube video. I wonder if this band will go the way of AC/DC with their new singer, or Drowning Pool. Only time will tell.
