This edition features some dudes with bags on their heads, prog with horns, aliens, and more! To the metals…
Ghoul – Dungeon Bastards
Genre: Thrash/grindcore
Origin: Oakland, California
Label: Tankcrimes
Buy now on Amazon.com
Bay Area's best band of buddies with bags on their brains are back! Alliteration aside, this record is a fun record and should appeal to trash fans, old school death metal fiends, and those that like their metal with some mystique.

Infinite Density – Recollapse of the Universe
Genre: Technical death metal
Origin: Melbourne, Australia
Label: self
Buy now on Bandcamp.com
The mastermind behind this death metal gem is probably my favorite modern bassist, Cygnus of Ne Obliviscaris. He taps vocalist Ben Boyle to discuss all things space, and this duo created some pretty (inter)stellar stuff. See what I did there? We've got the stream here, so enjoy!
Ringworm – Snake Church
Genre: Thrash/Hardcore
Origin: Cleveland, Ohio
Label: Relapse
Buy now on Amazon.com
This album is comprised of no frills, foot on your throat, sonic bludgeons. If you're looking for some melodic, proggy, soaring metal, you need to fuck right off. This is just over a half-hour of chaos, rage, and rad fretwork.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez – Corazones
Genre: Experimental
Origin: El Paso, Texas
Label: Ipecac
Buy now on Amazon.com
I read somewhere that this record is Omar's most straight forward collection of songs in this batch of releases. The Mars Volta/At The Drive-In axe-man is toying with indie melodies and some borderline ballads. If this one is too weak or whatever for you, just know there will be ten more records by him by year's end. So wait a few weeks.
Thank You Scientist – Stranger Heads Prevail
Genre: Progressive
Origin: Montclair, New Jersey
Label: Evil Ink Records
Buy now on Amazon.com
Somewhere between ska, soul, and metal is Thank You Scientist. There are big horn sections, stellar technical musicianship, and infections groovy melodies. Fans of RX Bandits, Coheed and Cambria, The Dear Hunter, and the likes, should give this record a spin.

Valient Thorr – Old Salt
Genre: Heavy metal/Southern Metal
Origin: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Label: Napalm
Buy now on Amazon.com
Valient Thorr have once again graced our planet with their unique brand of kinda-thrash, kinda-punk, and certainly rocking type of madness. Album number eight features some fresh faces in the band, but the result is still what you'd expect and hope for from the band.

Zodiac – Grain Of Soul
Genre: Stoner
Origin: Münster, Germany
Label: Napalm

Ending this week on some straight up smokey rock n roll. These German lads will scratch the itch you're experiencing while you wait for new Graveyard and Priestess. And boy-howdy, will this satisfy that itch.
