Here's Why DEFTONES' New Album Got Delayed

UPDATE: Deftones released a 30 second teaser of new music and confirmed the title of the new album is Gore. Here's the latest.

We recently found out that Deftones new album, possibly titled Gore, will be out on April 8. This comes after the band saying the record would be out in September 2015, then November 2015, then a long bout of silence followed by the recent news. So what's up with the delays? Frontman Chino Moreno explains in a recent video interview with IVN Studios (below) that a combination of touring and not being sure who would mix the record held the whole process up.

“The guy [Matt Hyde] who started—who recorded the record with us—had mixed it, but at the time, we had finished the record and then we went and started doing some shows. So we weren’t around while it was being mixed.

So, when we got off tour we listened to it and went ‘ahh, let’s try something else’—so we tried someone else, who was great, but didn’t record the record. So there was a lot of the nuance and things from the recording that were missing. So we ended up going back with Matt Hyde, who initially recorded the record.”

Whatever, the bottom line is that new Deftones is coming in a matter of weeks and I'd imagine we'll get a full announcement and song soon enough?
