TESTAMENT Is In The Studio

"We turned Nashville into Thrashville"

Testament-Studio

It seems like ages since Testament released their latest studio output Titans of Creation. The band has been very active during the past few years, recently re-signing to Nuclear Blast for three more albums, and also regaining control of all their old material and putting it all back on streaming services.

Last June, Eric Peterson said Testament had five or six new songs ready to go and the new record will arrive sometime in 2024. It seems the progress has steadily continued if we are to judge by the band's recent Instagram post, including a photo of Chuck Billy and mastering engineer Justin Shturtz at Nashville's renowned Sterling Sound Studios.

"We turned Nashville into Thrashville at Sterling Sound with Justin Shturtz this weekend," wrote Testament in their post. "Get ready Legions!" That upcoming Testament album will be the first with drummer Chris Dovas (Seven Spires), who replaced Dave Lombardo earlier this year.

Lombardo joined Testament in 2022 after the departure of Gene Hoglan, but never made it to the studio with the band. Lombardo's final effort with Testament remains The Gathering from 1999. Hoglan, however, drummed on both Testament's 2020 album Titans Of Creation and their 2016 effort Brotherhood Of The Snake. Dovas has been kicking major ass with Testament live, so we're definitely stoked to hear him on the new material!
