Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor said back in August that the band has "lots of riffs; there’s lots of material. There’s too much material" for a new album. Now after a year full of touring and writing riffs, Dailor reveals Mastodon is about to dig in and start putting together their follow-up to 2017's Emperor Of Sand.

Considering Mastodon's shifts between genres and styles, maybe "Feeling the doom" means they're taking a doomier direction for the new material? Or maybe he's just talking about the woods.
Mastodon also has a new song with Neurosis frontman Scott Kelly possibly titled "Fallen Torches" that was recorded to originally be out in January. The band couldn't get the song out the door in time, so as it stands right now, it's just sitting around.
