In the first half of 2017, Nile announced they were working with Erik Rutan (Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal) on a new album and that longtime guitarist and vocalist Dallas Toler-Wade had exited the band after 20 years. Toler-Wade was replaced by Brian Kingsland, though the split didn't exactly seem like it was amicable. Now in a new interview with guitarist and vocalist Karl Sanders, it sure doesn't seem like he's bummed about the split either.
"We don't consider it a loss. We considered it an opportunity to move forward. The new guy we got, Brian, is an amazing talent … He has allowed the band to step forward and move forward."
Sanders also follows up on the news that Nile was in the studio in 2017 demoing a new album. He says the new stuff should be out toward the end of the year, and that the band has six new songs written. Oh, and Sanders also says the new stuff is more related spiritually to the band's earlier work, which should be pretty interesting.
"Probably by the end of the year. We've got six songs finished so far. It's dark, evil and epic. It's got its own spirit. It's not exactly like any of the ones that came before it. I would say it's closer in spirit to the older albums."
This will be Nile's first album on Nuclear Blast.
