Slipknot are getting into high gear with new music. The last we heard about the band doing anything related to new music was early January when there was one photo of guitarist Jim Root demoing some stuff, but that's it.
The PRP notes that every web property run by the band has been blacked out. Their website, their Facebook, their Twitter, everything. The band have been working on new material for a while. Maybe they are ready to step out of the darkness, if you will.
Vocalist Corey Taylor also had some interesting words for Kerrang! about the impending record.
“I can say that, to me – and this is only my opinion – it’s a cross between Iowa and Vol. 3, but that’s honestly just scratching the surface. I think the fans are going to be very, very excited when they hear this stuff.”
“I’ve written lyrics for everything that we have right now and it’s feeling pretty good. It feels like the story of the band so far, which is a totally different take on what I’ve been used to writing with Slipknot, but I think because of everything we’ve been through, it’s time to tell that story. It’s going to be everything you want in a Slipknot album, and everything you wouldn’t expect.”
Okay consider my emotions toyed with. I'm excited now. If only the band would announce a new drummer already.
