The last time we got a new Glassjaw full length was 2002, and the last time we got a new EP was 2011. To be fair, Glassjaw released a new song called "New White Extremity" on December 1, 2015, which is off the band's fabled new album. It's now December 2016, and we still haven't heard much about the release date for the record, but we do know that The Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Billy Rymer played on it!
Here's what Rymer had to say on the 100 Words Or Less podcast, who doesn't offer too much hope on when exactly the record will be out.
“I recorded a record for them that’s probably due to come out sometime like 2036, I’m thinking [laughs.] I would think somewhere between then and… yeah. No, hopefully it will be out next year, I’m not exactly sure what… I don’t know how much they want me talking about that cause they’re very private with their stuff and their business. But I tracked a bunch of songs for them—a whole album’s worth of material—and I guess they’re just waiting to see how they’re going to release it. As far as playing live, it’s definitely a possibility.”
So does this mean that drummer Chad Hasty isn't in the group anymore, or is Rymer just playing some shows? Either way, new Glassjaw is extremely real and is maybe due out next year? We'd like to hope so, anyway.
