About one week ago, The Melvins updated their Facebook profile picture to the below photo with the caption "a dark sabbath in 10" form cometh duuuuuude." Not exactly descriptive, so nobody likely thought anything of it. Now the band has posted an eBay listing under the photo that links the profile picture to a coming and thus-far unannounced collaboration with vocalist and bassist Al Cisneros of Sleep called Sabbath.
Here's what the description says.
Up for auction is a rare Test Pressing for upcoming Amphetamine Reptile's upcoming release of the Melvins Sabbath 10".
2 tracks total with Al Cisneros of Sleep joining the Melvins. The record itself is basic black vinyl with simply "side A" printed on one side & "Melvins "Sabbath 1/10" handwritten on the other. Comes in the plastic sleeve from Pirates Press with a sticker adhered to it with the Amphetamine Reptile catalog #, band name, title, pressing plant, country of manufacture & some barcodes.
The sleeve has the artwork of HAZE XXL & with 2 hand-pulled linocut prints that were printed, torn & mounted by HAZE himself. He has also written in pencil, the words MELVINS "SABBATH" on the front & TEST PRESSING 1/10 on the back.
Only 10 of these exist & this is #1 in the edition.
So now we wait, but man, this might be awesome.
