The Sword recently unveiled their plans to return via an appearance at Levitation 2024. Now Magnetic Eye Records has revealed the band's first plans for new material, except it's not new – it's a cover and it's probably gonna rule.
The Sword will take part in Magnetic Eye Records' upcoming Aqualung Redux cover album where a handful of bands take on Jethro Tull's classic prog masterpiece. Pre-orders for Aqualung Redux are available here via a Kickstarter seeking $8,000. And considering how the rest of Magnetic Eye Records' redux series have turned out, you should consider donating.
"We launch into our latest Redux project with the announcement that the newly reactivated The Sword are taking part in the project," wrote Magnetic Eye Records.
"The news that The Sword were going on hiatus and possibly coming to an end a few years ago was a massive blow to fans everywhere, so we're incredibly stoked that the first new recorded music from The Sword since their announcement of new activities will be a track on Aqualung Redux. We can't wait for fans to hear the buzzing energy of their song on this album, and we're proud beyond description to help usher in a new era of this band!"
