When Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan was last asked about the progress of the new record earlier this month, he said "I write lyrics and melodies to music. If I don't have music, I can't." But just because he hasn't been writing Tool lyrics, doesn't mean he hasn't stayed busy. He's releasing a new Puscifer record and he just announced he landed a book deal to produce an official biography.
The official Puscifer page posted the following:
And away we go!

"We have, as they say, inked the deal. It’s been a year-long journey of proposals and queries and nibbles and “nope”s, but my amazing agent, Ann Collette, never lost faith in the dream.
The agreement with Backbeat Books is a reality, and the biography of Maynard Keenan is slated for publication next fall.
Lots of work still to be done, but today’s priority: feeling grateful to everybody who’s been there for us throughout this project. That means you!"
Do we start taking bets on if the biography will come out before the new Tool record? Probably, right? Maynard's life will certainly make for an interesting book, based on what I've read about him and his interview on WTF with Marc Maron a few years back. I look forward to reading this one.
