Back in January Tool teased the new record was coming along nicely, but the group has been doing that for quite some time now so it's a little difficult to believe. Even when we saw the band writing with Maynard, we were excited. But they still weren't in the studio. A new sense of excitement came from an unlikely source this weekend as Motorhead drummer Mickey Dee seemed to reveal that their next door neighbors at a local studio just happen to be Tool:
Well, it actually looks like Tool is in the studio making a new record for the first time in nine years! This is exciting. Leave it to frontman Maynard James to rain on our parade though. In a recent response to a fan tweeting about the video, he seems to think we're all gullible for believing this is happening:

So then what was that video all about? Is Tool really in the studio or not? Come on man, it's been nine years since we've heard a full new song. We did get to hear a new riff last year, but that doesn't count.
