Things did not go as expected for Metallica during their GRAMMYs performance earlier this month with Lady Gaga. At the very start, Laverne Cox forgot to introduce Metallica, but has since apologized. Then James Hetfield's mic stop working. Eventually, we learned the reasons for the sound issues was a stagehand accidentally unplugging a chord. But what if the performance had just gone as planned?
For a moment, there was a video going around with the "audio issues" fixed, but we've since learned the clip just had Hetfield's live vocals edited in. Today, Metallica and Lady Gaga shared video footage of the dress rehearsal of the performance. Gaga is certainly less "on," at points look down at lyric sheets and in general everybody is just trying to make their cues.
Whatever the issues were, it hasn't stopped Lars Ulrich from saying he hopes to collaborate with Lady Gaga again and the feeling is mutual.
