For the uninitiated, West Yorkshire's Monolith Cult plays a classical, epic doom metal. They take the best of early Solitude Aeturnus and Messiah Marcolin-era Candlemass and meld it into a mix of soaring clean vocals and fist-pounding riffs. The quartet released their second album, Gospel of Despair, back in the fall of 2017. It's seven tracks undoubtedly guaranteed to satisfy the most nostalgic doom metal fan. One such song is the opening "Disconnection Syndrome" which the band created a music video for.
The six-minute video showcases the band performing with strips of light illuminating their faces. Occasional bursts swallow the room and cast silhouettes of the members. The brightest (pun intended) moments of this video are of Monolith Cult's passionate physical performance, however. Personally, the song for the video is a favorite from Gospel of Despair. Seeing it turned into a performance video made it even better.
