Paradise Lost's video for their new song "Darker Thoughts" is a direct product of the COVID-19 outbreak. Paradise Lost vocalist Nick Holmes and Ash Pears of AshTV managed to shoot a portion of the video before the quarantines began, and the rest was put together with additional footage from the shoot.
The day has finally arrived: Paradise Lost present their new album Obsidian to the world today. Given the current circumstances of Covid-19, the release has become a soundtrack of sorts for these difficult and uncertain times.
To mark the occasion, the band has released a video for 'Darker Thoughts'. The unique style of the video is also due to the restrictions of Covid-19. Ash Pears from AshTV managed to film bits of the video with Nick before the lockdown but had to piece together the rest of the video using random footage to make things work.
Nick Holmes states: "Musically, this is a song of 2 halves and was originally written as an intro towards the end of the Obsidian writing process. As a result, it's one of the more spontaneous songs on the album. Lyrically, it's a song about choosing the wrong path – failing to look before you leap, and dealing with the consequence of dubious decisions."
Paradise Lost's new album Obsidian is out now.
