RAMMSTEIN's Paul Landers Thinks LINKIN PARK Changed Their Sound Too Much, Talks Writing RAMMSTEIN's Next Album & Their Legendary Music Videos

Metal Injection correspondant Robert Pasbani spoke to Rammstein guitarist Paul Landers during the band's recent stop in New York as part of their short North American tour.

Rob asked Paul about the status of a new album, of which, fellow guitarist Richard Kruspe said the band had 35 songs written before hitting the road. Asked if there was any progress on the songs, Paul noted that the band doesn't write while touring:

"Some people can make music on the road, for example Korn. They're sitting, at night, in the bus, in the back, and making music. But, we are Germans and men. We can just do one thing at a time. One switch is live, and then we go live." Landers added "We have a little bit of a summer break, a small one, and then in September, we will keep on working."

Rob noted that in previous interviews, the band talked about using unusual methods and taking new paths. Asked if they've figured out the methods or paths, Landers jokingly responded:

"We are still looking. Sometimes, you think, in theory, I want to make this. And then, it ends up [another way]. But you have to try it, and we feel it's time try out things again. Don't worry, it's still with evil guitars and good drummers. I'm not sure if it's nice to say, but with Linkin Park, sometimes they change the sound too much, in my eyes. They're also trying out new things, but I wouldn't go so far from my core. You have your style, your way to make music together and you can't change it artificially."

Landers also discussed the band's process for music videos, nothing that sometimes they have a concept and seek out directors and other times, directors pitch them on ideas and they choose the one that matches their vision.

Hopefully, we'll hear new Rammstein in 2018. See our photos from Rammstein's magnificent show in New York right here.
