Tenacious D is back with a bluegrass ripper about how Jack Black doesn't play video games anymore. Well, except for Red Dead Redemption 2, which is an adult thing and defies the category video games. The song is hilarious, the instrumentation is excellent, and the animated video directed by Adam Paloian and Chris "Oney" O'Neill is fan-fucking-tastic.
As for a new Tenacious D record, they've been plotting a sequel to their 2006 movie The Pick Of Destiny for quite some time now and it seems like it might finally be happening. Or at least they're thinking about it.
Tenacious D recently revealed they're working on the follow-up to their 2018 album Post-Apocalypto, with frontman Jack Black later saying "I am playing music with [Tenacious D co-founder] Kyle Gass. We're still touring and we got a very big project coming up that I can't really tell you anything about" and that the band has "a concept album coming down the pike."
Then in an interview with SirusXM, Black and Gass spoke just a little bit about both a sequel to The Pick Of Destiny and to Black's 2003 movie The School Of Rock. "Yup. Both of them. Breaking news. We're thinking about doing both of those," said Black. Gass then joked "it's a hybrid – a school of D."
