KORN To Perform A New Song… Inside A Video Game

There will be a new song.

Korn is taking the promotion of their coming album The Nothing to a whole new level. The band will be playing a digital concert in both AdventureQuest 3D and AQ Worlds on August 20, and you can participate both on your Android and Apple devices, as well as your desktop computer. The concert will take place in the game's Battle Concert Arena at sundown EST.

Massively Overpowered explains the process of joining the concert and how it works.

Here’s how it shakes down: New AQ3D characters will get themselves a Magic Ticket in their inventory, though you’ll certainly want to get through the tutorial section first. If you happen to already be a regular player of the game, you can get your ticket from the Special Event Promoter for a mere 100g. In either case, using the ticket will teleport you to the Battle Concert Arena when the event starts, where you can hear an in-game concert by the digital versions of Korn, including a new song from their upcoming album The Nothing, and even fight monsters in the mosh pit for some loot.

The concert will be free, though there is a VIP package that gives "you Korn-branded items, the Heavy Metal Mosh Pit armor, the ability to transform into monsters while at the show, and even a backstage pass so you can get a shot with the in-game likenesses of the band." This sounds like a pretty cool idea, but backstage passes for a virtual show with virtual pictures seems a bit… much.

Game developers Artix Entertainment, LLC say "the band will play on stage while you fight monsters, score loot, and hear a new song from Korn‘s upcoming album…. THE NOTHING." Check out a trailer of the concert below and go see the band for real here.
