It's WWE WrestleMania week and it's shaping up to the most metal WrestleMania week ever. WWE has lined up three different rock musicians to perform this weekend at various events, on top of already (sorta) announcing Ozzy Osbourne will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Here's what's scheduled.
The performances kick off tomorrow night on WWE NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver Night 1, as Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss will kick things off on the USA Network/Peacock streaming simulcast performing the national anthem on guitar.
The news was announced by Alice Cooper, who himself made an infamous appearance at WrestleMania 3. Alice wrote "I know what it takes to create a spectacle with @WWE. I’m excited to have our very own @hurricanenita open #NXTTakeOver Stand & Deliver Night 1 with our National Anthem. Play it proud, play it #NXTLOUD!"
Nita added "I am incredibly excited to get on stage to kick off #Wrestlemania week this Wednesday with the National Anthem at #NXTTakeover Stand & Deliver ??"
Night 2 of WWE NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver, which will stream exclusively on Peacock will feature a performance from Poppy, who has performed at NXT before. Speaking to Billboard.com, WWE legend and Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development for WWE Paul “Triple H” Levesque said Poppy and her music are “custom built for us and we immediately reached out. NXT, a two-hour weekly live show, caters to a younger demographic and we typically have up-and-coming talent that we’ve been able to expose them in a bigger way to the world outside of their genre. It’s a great platform for her and it’s great for us.”
Finally, during the actual WrestleMania event, New Year's Day frontwoman Ash Costello will be performing "This Is My Brutality," the entrance theme for Rhea Ripley, who is challenging for the RAW Women's championship. I interviewed Rhea yesterday and she went into detail about working with Ash on getting her theme song right. Listen to that interview here.
Will you be watching WrestleMania?
