Whoa! After years and years of waiting, and teasing, we finally get the first trailer to the highly anticipated Bill & Ted threequel, Bill & Ted: Face the Music. Not only that, but we get the official movie poster as well.
First, let's see the poster:

The trailer shows the threequel following a similar pattern, at first, as the first two movies from thirty years ago. Bill & Ted are visited by some one from the future who warns them that they did not create the harmony in the universe that they were supposed to. They never actually wrote the perfect song, so the duo are on a mission. They realize the best way to do it is just to go to the future and steal the song… from themselves!
The film was written by the original creators, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon along with Dean Parisot directing. In addition to Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter returning, William Sadler will reprise his original role of Death.
Kid Cudi is in the film, identified as the role of "Scott Mescudi," rumored to be a modern Rufus, since George Carlin sadly passed away.
Jayma Mays (The Smurfs) has been cast as Princess Joanna, Bill’s wife. Meanwhile, Erinn Hayes (Childrens Hospital) will play Princess Elizabeth, Ted's wife. They join the already announced Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine as Bill and Ted’s daughters, Billie and Thea. Barry's Anthony Carrigan is playing the villain in the movie.
The movie was original slated for an August release, but the trailer offers no specifics on release dates.

The stakes are higher than ever for the time-traveling exploits of William "Bill" S. Preston Esq. and Theodore "Ted" Logan. Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends – to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe.
Bill & Ted Face the Music is directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest), from a screenplay by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey) – and produced by Scott Kroopf, Alex Lebovici, and Steve Ponce.
In an interview with Yahoo in 2014, Alex Winter gave a few more hints of the plot:
“[Bill & Ted] will be 40-something and it’s all about Bill and Ted grown up, or not grown up,” Winter tells us. “It’s really sweet and really f—-ing funny.
“But it’s a Bill & Ted movie, that’s what it is. It’s for the fans of Bill & Ted. It fits very neatly in the [series]. It’s not going to feel like a reboot. The conceit is really funny: What if you’re middle-aged, haven’t really grown up and you’re supposed to have saved the world and maybe, just maybe, you kinda haven’t?”
“There’s many versions of ourselves in this movie,” he continues. “[It’s] answering the question: ‘What happened to these guys?’ They’re supposed to have done all this stuff, they weren’t the brightest bulbs on the tree, what happened 20 years later? To answer that question in a comedic way felt rich with possibility.”
