Throughout the course of their current farewell tour, the members of Kiss, mainly Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, as well as their manager Doc McGhee, have continued to hint that Kiss essentially will go on forever, in some kind of form. Simmons went as far as to say he wouldn't even mind an America's Got Talent scenario where a new generation of the band is reborn from the ashes of Kiss, the touring band. About the only consistent story thus far from the Kiss camp has been that this version of the band, it's current incarnation, is retiring from full-scale global tours for good.
Despite the fact that none of this "Kiss of the Future" talk has ever been explained by anybody beyond mere hints and winking, McGhee has now just confirmed at least a portion of what's next after the farewell tour: a Kiss biopic.
Yes, the band's story is going to be coming to Netflix in 2024, McGhee confirmed on The Rock Experience with Mike Brunn podcast. The film is to be titled Shout It Out Loud, and is expected to feature the same stylistic cinema that has been featured in recent biopics such as the Motley Crue saga The Dirt (2019), and The Runaways (2010), which profiled (very well, in fact) the history of the popular group from which Joan Jett and Lita Ford launched their careers.
“It’s a biopic about the first four years of Kiss,” McGhee said. “We’re just starting it now. We’ve already sold it, it’s already done, we have a director.” He did not elaborate any further nor mention any names attached to the film so far. Though, it's worth noting that in 2021, Deadline reported that Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Rønning (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) was set to direct the biopic, with a script written by Ole Sanders, who previously worked with Madonna on her "Die Another Day" video.
Kiss at long last announced their final shows earlier this month—an expected two-night final stand at Madison Square Garden, back where it all began for the group in New York City. Dates are December 1-2, 2023 and tickets are on sale now.
