It’s Monday and Mondays suck, so let’s grind it out with a video premiere of The Sound That Ends Creation’s latest single “Get Your Shirt Off… It’s Pervert Time.”
If you are not already familiar, The Sound That Ends Creation is a one-person powerhouse out of Allen, TX. The project takes the stylings of grind, jazz, orchestral, and shoves them through a chaotic mathcore blender. Started in 2015, the project has been grinding out release after release since its inception, now at four full-lengths, two singles, and a split with the mighty Focusrights. But if you follow this column, you probably know most or all of that. But get ready, because this jet-fueled show must go on.
“Get Your Shirt Off… It’s Pervert Time” is the latest slice of brain-melting madness. This time featuring Cameron McBride of Methwitch. For those that remember Memes, Dreams And Flying Machines, this track sounds like it is hot off that era. The track is quickly in your face, firing and break-neck speed. The track does a quick build-up before fully firing off. The project is getting jazzier. Though still incorporating plenty of grind and mathcore, the composition has become more obviously jazzy. During the first sung section especially, the music is ridiculously dance-y and catchy. Additionally, the guest vocals by McBride are fantastic and varied, delivering some excellent squeals and shrieks that add a good layer of horror to the track.
Clocking at a minute and a half, the track is a flurry of absurdist conspiracy theory images. Focusing on Alex “I will eat your ass” Jones and featuring plenty of gay frogs and faked moon landings for good measure. There have been political nods in previous tracks by Dearing but this is the first one that is two feet in. Though the video also makes nods to imagery from his previous record as well, such as ice cream and chickens. The cut and paste art style of the track by Sesius is fantastic, adding a trippy psychedelic vibe to it.
Having more Sound That Ends Creation is always a net positive. “Get Your Shirt Off… It’s Pervert Time” further showcases the evolution of the project towards that aforementioned jazz. It is a component that has always been there, but it rears its head a lot more here. Though now that the project has dipped into conspiracies maybe we will start getting pitched some mathcore supplements. Corporate sponsorship is inevitable. Get grinding on this!
