AC/DC is back to claim their throne atop the Billboard charts. The Aussies moved 117,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during its first week of release to land at number 1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts.
Billboard reports the album sold 111,000 units, and then earned another 5,000 units via streaming equivalent albums. An additional 1,000 units were "track-equivalent albums."
As Billboard explains it, each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.
Power Up is also getting the distinction of fastest selling album in the U.S. in 2020, as well as in Australia and the U.K., where the album also debuted at number 1.
Their previous record, Rock or Bust in 2014 came in at number 3 on the Billboard charts, moving 172,000 units first week. The band's previous release, 2008's Black Ice, sold an insane 784,288 copies in its first week to come in at number 1, their first number 1 debut in the States.
