Korn have reason to celebrate, as their album, The Nothing, will see the band debut at number 8 on the Billboard Top 200 charts. They sold 33,000 equivalent album units earned (of which 29,000 were in album sales).
This gives the band a very interesting stat. As Billboard notes:
Korn ties Van Halen for the fifth-most top 10s on the chart among rock bands; ahead of them: The Rolling Stones, with 37, The Beatles (32), Dave Matthews Band (16) and Santana (16).
Numbers nerds would notice that the band actually had a 42% drop from first week sales of their 2016 aslbum, The Serenity of Suffering. That album debuted at number 4 with 57,000 units of which 55,000 were pure sales. Their previous album, The Paradigm Shift in 2013 sold 46,000 units.
But, of course, the music industry being what it is – less sales is sort of expected nowadays. What the band should hope for is more streaming numbers and certainly all the money for them is in touring.
