Slipknot's highly anticipated sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released last Friday to a ton of hype, and the maggots are coming through in full force as it looks like the album is going to be sitting on top of next week's album charts.
Record sales tracking authority Hits Daily Double reports that based on "early reads" Slipknot is on track to sell 90,000 – 100,000 albums and have an overall activity (sales and streaming) of 100,000 to 120,000. The only artist on pace to come anywhere near Slipknot is Rick Ross, who is currently tracking for 70,000 – 80,000 overall activity (only 15k in sales, to show you the difference in power of hip hop streaming vs. metal streaming).
Meanwhile, Kerrang! Radio reports that Slipknot is also on track to top the U.K. charts, besting Ed Sheeran who's been on top for four weeks. Slipknot are currently tracking 13,000 sales ahead of Sheeran.
Corey Taylor commented on the great performance of the album saying "I’m into it. Let’s make this happen in the US and all over the world. ROCK IS NOT DEAD."
